Action Camp has developed into a significant project with over 2,000 people, across all 22 unitary authorities, attending the camps over the last three years. The camp delivers important life-long learning in a fun and entertaining way, it is often the only holiday experience these young people have. Action Camp is particularly successful at engaging hard to reach young people, with the vast majority of attendees pledging to return the following year.

Action Camp has an excellent track record of engaging young people and delivering measurable outcomes through organised group activities. Over the past few years Young Wales has successfully delivered projects and activities within many communities across Wales working with groups such as; Inclusion Services, Registered Social Landlords, Youth Offending Teams, Local schools, Alternative Education Providers, Youth Groups and Community Groups.

The Action Camp programme aims to educate attendees about the day-to-day issues they may face within society and within their communities. The attendees learn how to put the principles of Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship (ESDGC) into practise. New features are regulary introduced and this year the camp will include dedicated Family Camps and Career Camps which will include topics such as:

  • Anti Social Behaviour
  • Budgeting
  • First Aid
  • Literacy

By providing high quality outdoor learning experiences that are inspirational, educational and enjoyable, Action Camp is a way of engaging some of hardest to reach young people.
