Young Wales

GrEW’s sister organisation Young Wales is an exciting, innovative, work based learning provision which works hard to engage young people in a commercial environment. Young Wales is working with Agored Cymru to deliver its acclaimed CRE8 programme which specialises in the media/creative fields.

Young Wales has developed specific training modules that bring together commercial work and enable attendees to obtain recognised qualifications that are part of the Welsh Government Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).

Students work in small groups or as individuals with teachers and employers. Emphasis is placed on improving confidence in their ability and increasing their self-esteem through individual learning, teamwork and work experience.

Our modern educational facilities engage our students and complement our strong links within the media industry. Combined with our innovative teaching methods we produce award winning results. We are fast becoming the third sectors creative industry provider of choice with particularly strong links with the social housing sector.

Young Wales is one of the premier centres for creative education in Wales and has ambitions to open centres in each unitary authority. We are currently operating in 5 counties:

  • Blaenau Gwent
  • Caerphilly
  • Cardiff
  • Merthyr
  • Rhondda Cynon Taf

The unique element in Young Wales is its commercial underpinning. The work we carry out for our clients is completed by our highly trained professionals but supported by the students. This means they work with us on real live projects from concept right through to delivery, this type of experience is invaluable.

Young Wales will support its students to acquire all the necessary qualifications and experience they need so that when they are ready to move on they are fully prepared. Young Wales will also help them to produce a portfolio to showcase their work to future employers.

The Young Wales programme enables its students to demonstrate an awareness of and ability to work in the outside world, this is a life experience skill many of their school contemporaries would not have acquired.
